Our Mission
At Roots and Wings Family Development Center, our mission is to provide safe and nurturing child care services that promote child development and growth. We strive to create a warm and welcoming environment where children can learn and play.
High Quality Environment
We embrace a learning environment that nurtures creativity, inspires deep thinking, values hand-on learning and explores the physical world around us. We have a variety of specific centers including a two-level Dramatic Play Loft, the Art Studio supplied with a variety of art materials, a Skills class that focuses on reading, writing, science and math. Our Young Preschool classroom is set up to support the emerging skills of our younger learners.
Reggio Inspired Learning
The Reggio Emilia philosophy is based upon the following set of principles:
- Children must have some control over the direction of their learning;
- Children must be able to learn through experiences of touching, moving, listening, and observing;
- Children have a relationship with other children and with material items in the world that they must be allowed to explore;
- Children must have endless ways and opportunities to express themselves.
Our Philosophy
At Roots and Wings Family Development Center, we believe that every child is unique and deserves individualized attention and care. We encourage creativity, exploration, learning through play, and strive to foster a lifelong love of learning in every child.
Class Groups & Ratios
- Young Preschool serves children 2 through 3 years of age and does not require potty training. The class is limited to 12 students and has a ratio of one teacher per six children.
- Our older preschool classrooms serves fully potty trained children ages 3-6. We maintain a ratio of one teacher per 8 children.
